The event will be hosted at the Central European University. The purpose of the workshop is to focus on the upcoming digitalization of the radio frequency spectrum and on access to the digitised spectrum as well as other media infrastructure by community and citizens media. The primary objective of the workshop is to open an exchange of ideas, strategies and research and to set clear priorities for the media policy solutions regarding the radio spectrum.

The idea for the workshop came about during a workshop last year entitled Broadcasting Community: a Workshop on Policies in Europe, which was organised by the CMCS and Communication Studies at CEU together with the Community Media
Forum Europe (CMFE) and AMARC Europe, where the need for a focused discussion related to the impact of digitalisation on community broadcasting emerged.
